Diving in Vitoria shipwreck - Ilha de Farol

Diving in Vitoria shipwreck - Ilha de Farol It was worth to take the opportunity for a wreck-dive of Vitoria I. This shipwreck was placed on purpose in order to attract divers. The max depth is about 30 m an average dive-depth about 24 m. We can encounter remainals of engines, the bow is quite intact, u can go trough several corridors etc. ... Unfortunately I couldnt take UW photocamera. Because it crashes after 15 m of depth. Then we went to Ilha the Farol to make a drift dive with a depth of about 15 m maximum. Here I have brilliant photos of the 10 min in the start, then the camera started flipping unfortunately. This is the beautiful pufferfish, it can blow its body up that's why it's so funny.  Ilha de Farol - itself. It has not stolen its name. A ' batfish '. Beautiful soft coral ...

Island ' Tres Ilhas'

Island três ilhas Today we had a talk with the local fishermen. We wanted to make a trip to ' Três Ilhas', easy to arrange,if you speak Portuguese.  This is the fisherman , working hard to prepare the nets and trowing out the anchors .. After 50 min of crossing wild waves, we made it . The place was incredible for snorkeling. Many new species ! More colourful species will be found in the pictures below:

Fish ID

Fish ID I started to discover the first fishes and I'm practising names. It's absolutely challenging ! The water is more turbid, less clear then in the Red Sea or Mediterrenean ... but fullof soft coral and many more. We start with a major sergeant, indo-pacific species.   This is feather coral, has black and red colours. This is a nudibranch or sea-slug. Then we have someunidentifiable fish species. And the major sergeant again. What about this , Yellow-tang-fish ? And here are some more beautiful ones ... 'Salema' - or- 'salmon' A surgeon-fish.

The work & the place

The work & the place This post gives some basic information about the hostel where I'm volunteering, the tasks and  accomodation and meals. Hostel Playeros works with international volunteers who receive breakfast and dinner, sleeping place in exchange for 5 hours of work. The place: All furniture is home-made and home-painted. The work - this fruit is ' Njami', family of the manioc. Everybody prepares it like ' fried potatoes' after peeling. Here I'm building chairs and banks , in a traditional style. With plywood from pallets and that's it, basic materials ! Also the doghouse is constructed this style. Here we have some volunteers enjoying dinner. Then we learn how to prepare 'Empanadas' or 'Salgadas'. Art of working like an Italian with the dough ! This is the result. Then we have a giant fish called 'Dourada'. The boys 'Gonzalo...
